Haddad Fellowships for Brazil Students in Ireland 2024-2025

The ABEI/HADDAD Fellowship is designed to support Brazilian students pursuing an M.Phil. at Trinity College Dublin, University of Dublin, Ireland, for the academic year 2024-2025.

Fellowship Details

The Haddad Foundation, in collaboration with the Brazilian Association of Irish Studies (ABEI), will award one scholarship. The scholarship covers the international tuition fee for one year and provides a €15,000 stipend, distributed monthly from October 2024 to September 2025, contingent upon timely completion of necessary forms by September 2024.

Selection Process

Three potential winners will be identified before their application to Trinity College Dublin. Applicants should not apply to their chosen course until they receive confirmation from ABEI and the Haddad Foundation. After the registration deadline on January 15, 2024, applications will be reviewed, followed by interviews. The top three candidates will be notified on February 1, 2024. These candidates must then apply to Trinity College Dublin. On June 3, 2024, the admission statuses will be reviewed. The fellowship will be awarded to the highest-ranked candidate who receives an offer from Trinity. If the first candidate is not admitted, the next in line will be considered. If none are admitted, the fellowship will not be awarded.

Acknowledgement And The Obligations

Recipients must acknowledge the ABEI/HADDAD Fellowship in all academic outputs and are expected to further Irish Studies in Brazil post-graduation. They must return to Brazil after completing their course and provide a progress report after six months and a final dissertation summary. They are also expected to engage with ABEI events and activities for two years post-graduation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have completed an undergraduate degree by the time of application.
  • Ph.D. students or holders are ineligible.
  • Postgraduate students (excluding Ph.D. holders) are eligible.
  • Must be a Brazilian national residing in Brazil during the application period.
  • Must have a minimum B.A. grade of 7.1.
  • Cannot be part of an exchange program.
  • Must be (or become) a member of ABEI with up-to-date membership fees.

  • Registration Form: Available at haddadfellowship.com.
  • Academic CV: Lattes CV format.
  • Transcripts: Original transcripts and a document showing overall grade.
  • Letter of Interest: 1,000–1,500 words in English.
  • Abstract of Proposal: Up to 500 words in English.
  • Personal Statement: Up to 500 words in English.
  • Academic Paper: Up to 3,000 words in English, demonstrating command of the language and academic skills.
  • Passport Copy: Valid through the end of the postgraduate program.
  • Two Reference Letters: Written in English, sent directly by referees to haddadfellowship@gmail.com.
  • English Proficiency Certificate: Valid per Trinity College Dublin standards.
