Primary Responsibilities

Supervise, plan, and organize the tasks of staff involved in meal preparation, portioning, and serving.
Estimate and order the necessary quantity of food and supplies.
Prepare summaries of meal orders for the chef based on requests from dietitians, hospital patients, and other clients.
Develop work schedules and guidelines for staff.
Monitor inventory, manage repairs, track sales, and minimize waste.
Train employees on their job duties, hygiene standards, and safety protocols.
Oversee and inspect the preparation of standard and special diet trays, ensuring proper transportation to hospitalized patients.
Ensuring food and service meet quality control standards.
Participate in hiring food service staff and assist in budget creation, as well as developing rules and procedures.
Design cafeteria menus and estimate related labor and food costs.
