Graduation Recognition
Graduating from Liberty University’s Honors Program comes with several forms of recognition, underscoring the students’ achievements:
Transcript Notation
University transcripts will reflect all Honors coursework completed.
Honors Graduation
Students who meet all program requirements and successfully complete a Senior Honors Thesis or Project will have this distinction noted on their diploma and receive an Honors Scholar certificate.
Commencement Acknowledgement
The Liberty University commencement program will list all Honors Scholar graduates.
Honors Medallions
Graduates will receive a special medallion to wear at Commencement. These medallions are distributed at the Senior Honors Thesis party. Students unable to attend can collect their medallions from the Honors Program office afterward.
Early Registration
Honors students enjoy early class registration, competitive scholarships, and smaller class sizes (15:1) in general education Honors seminars. Over 40 Honors seminars are available, focusing on discussion and higher-level critical thinking skills, taught by senior faculty, 90% of whom hold doctorates.
Upon reaching junior status, students can petition for one Honors course per semester (up to three total) within their major, allowing for enriched academic projects agreed upon by both the professor and student.
Completing a Senior Honors Thesis is particularly beneficial for those pursuing graduate studies, as many institutions require a writing sample. Recent Honors theses are published on the Digital Commons website.
